I love finding simple, beautiful, meaningful art. This picture stuns me every time I look at it. I get lost in it. The expressions. The style. The love. The serpent. The humanity. Jesus at the center.
There’s something very special about it. So I thought I’d share it with you. It has a moving poem to go with it (see below). Get your own copy of the artwork here.
O Eve!
My mother, my daughter, life-giving Eve,
Do not be ashamed, do not grieve.
The former things have passed away,
Our God has brought us to a New Day.
See, I am with Child,
Through whom all will be reconciled.
O Eve! My sister, my friend,
We will rejoice together
Forever
Life without end.
My mother, my daughter, life-giving Eve,
Do not be ashamed, do not grieve.
The former things have passed away,
Our God has brought us to a New Day.
See, I am with Child,
Through whom all will be reconciled.
O Eve! My sister, my friend,
We will rejoice together
Forever
Life without end.
Poem by Sr. Columba Guare. Artwork by Sr. Grace Remington.
